Patricia (Pat) E. Lummus

Executive Director

Pat Lummus is Executive Director of the Sartain Lanier Family Foundation, overseeing strategy and operations for the past decade after ten years as Associate Director. She drives the Foundation’s efforts to expand opportunity for children and youth across metro Atlanta, and stewards its investments in Parkinson’s Disease research and in scholarship opportunities at Vanderbilt University.

As a leader in the philanthropic sector, Pat actively fosters collaboration among funders through Philanthropy Southeast, the Georgia Grantmakers Alliance, and the Atlanta Education Funders Collaborative. Along with the Emory Brain Health Advisory Council, she serves in an advisory capacity for several local nonprofit organizations. She is a Ministry Leader and former Elder at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, Pat began her career at the fundraising consulting firm Alexander Haas before working independently with nonprofit clients. Pat and her husband, Bill, have three adult children and one grandson.

Annie Appleton

Program Director

Annie Appleton is the Program Director at the Sartain Lanier Family Foundation, where she manages the grantmaking portfolio and partners with organizations working to expand access to high-quality education for K–12 students in metro Atlanta. Before joining the Foundation, Annie worked as a reading teacher, curriculum designer, coach for new teachers, and fundraising professional. She is actively involved in her community through organizations such as the Atlanta Civic Collaboratory, LEAD Atlanta, Reynoldstown Civic Improvement League, Friends of Lang Carson Park, and Park Pride. Annie lives in Atlanta with her husband, Chris, and their children, Alexander and June.
